Now technical director for Dutch Eredivisie club FC Twente, Ten Hag has said his former club, Manchester United, face a real possibility of relegation from the English Premier League (EPL) this season.
The Dutch tactician made the comment recently while analysing the Red Devils’ performance so far this season on ESPN.
Man United currently sit in 17th place in the league table after losing 2-0 at Chelsea last weekend following nine league fixtures.
Michael Carrick’s men, who are winless in nine fixtures, have picked up only seven points from nine league matches so far.
Reacting to their performance and league position, Ten Hag said that given the competitive nature of the Premier League, United are in real danger of going down.
”In the Premier League, it’s certainly possible because all the teams are simply strong,” he said.
Man United will host Roma in the Champions League before welcoming Aston Villa in the Premier League this weekend.
