Fubara tells supporters to stop calling him leader, says only Wike holds the title

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has described the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, as the only leader, warning his supporters against addressing him by the same title.
Fubara made the declaration during the unveiling of candidates under the Rivers State Rainbow Coalition, a political structure backed by Wike. Candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP) were unveiled at the event.
Fubara, who had been embroiled in a power struggle with Wike before the political crisis took a turn in Wike’s favour, urged those who supported him during the crisis to stop referring to him as their leader.
Speaking at the event, Fubara said: “My leader of the Rainbow Coalition… My Oga, let me say something here so that it can help us as we move forward. I’m aware there are some issues where some persons who followed me when we had the crisis, when you’re in your meeting, you’ll say, ‘my leader’.
“We are now in one house. And because we have one house, there is no issue about who is the leader. I might be your Oga, but we have a common leader now.
“So, please, going forward, this issue of ‘my leader’, I want it resolved here.”
