The former Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister is currently facing trial for allegedly intercepting the phone calls of National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu.
However, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, in her ruling, held that the Department of State Services (DSS) had provided sufficient evidence to require the ex-governor to enter his defence.
After dismissing his no-case submission, she ordered El-Rufai to open his defence and adjourned the case to 25 November 2026.
Meanwhile, the romantic gesture between the couple has generated mixed reactions online; while some commended the moment, others accused the ex-governor of attempting to portray to Nigerians that all is well.
