Umahi also disclosed that some people reported him to President Tinubu, accusing him of giving jobs to people from the South-East.

Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has described President Bola Tinubu as a man with a ‘good heart’, while expressing faith that the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate will be re-elected in 2027.
He made the assertions while appearing as a guest on Channels Television’s programme, Sunday Politics.
According to the former Ebonyi State governor, God brought Tinubu to be Nigeria’s president at a very challenging period, with many obstacles thrown his way, so he would be re-elected in 2027.
He went on to say he knows that the president, who is seeking a second term in office, has good intentions from working closely with him.

Speaking during the interview, Umahi said: “I have faith in God that the President will return because he came at a very challenging period. All manner of obstacles were thrown in his way, but power belongs to God.
“I have worked very closely with him. I have seen his good heart, I have seen his good intentions, and I’m telling you that the President has never asked me to give jobs to this or that person.
“One time, they told the President that I had given jobs to people from the South-East, and that was why I published this paper and went and gave it to him.
“Ninety-five per cent of those projects were inherited contractors, but if you are not performing, it doesn’t matter who you are.”
While expressing hope that the ruling APC would win the five states in the South-East, Umahi assured Tinubu that he would harvest a lot of votes in the 2027 elections.
“I will not tell you whether we will win the five votes of the South-East or not, but the President is going to harvest a lot of votes in the South-East. My faith is telling me we will win the five states.
“We shouldn’t play regional politics because it doesn’t help us. As a region, we should be able to have a handshake across the Niger,” he added.
