Nigeria came from behind to defeat a hard-fighting Madagascar side at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles came from behind on Friday to defeat a resilient Madagascar team 2-1 in their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
The visitors shocked the three-time African champions in the 16th minute when Clément Couturier opened the scoring.
However, Nigeria levelled the score in first-half stoppage time when George Ilenikhena found the net for the hosts.

Moses Usor then scored in the 65th minute to make it 2-1 to the Super Eagles, ensuring Eric Chelle’s men secured all three points.
Nigeria’s next fixture is an AFCON qualifier away against Guinea-Bissau on Tuesday, 29 September 2026.
