Egunjobi and Ninolowo had earlier been reported as winners of the APC primaries for the Agege I and II constituencies but were later replaced.

In what appeared to be a dramatic turn of events, former Agege Local Government chairman Kola Egunjobi and another All Progressives Congress (APC) Lagos State House of Assembly aspirant, Azeez Yusuf, popularly known as Ninolowo, have decamped from the party to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
Egunjobi, who was seeking election in Agege Constituency I, and Ninolowo, who is contesting the Constituency II seat, made the move following changes to the ruling party’s candidate list for the two constituencies.
Currently, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, occupies the Agege Constituency I seat, whilst Hon. Abdulkareem Jubreel Ayodeji represents the Agege II Constituency.
Meanwhile, Egunjobi and Ninolowo had earlier been reported as winners of the APC primaries conducted in May.

Subsequent changes to the party’s candidate list saw Oluwagbenga Abiola listed for Agege Constituency I, whilst Enimakure Akindele Sakiru was named as the candidate for Constituency II.
Following the development, Egunjobi publicly challenged the pronouncement by the APC in June, alleging that the result announced for the Agege Constituency I primary did not correspond with the votes recorded at the various voting centres.
However, with the party sticking to its guns, the former Agege LG chairman and Ninolowo opted for the APM tickets to continue their bids for the Lagos State House of Assembly in the 2027 general election.
With this decision, the duo will now pursue their respective ambitions to become Lagos State lawmakers under the opposition party.
