American businessman Todd Boehly has officially left his position as Chelsea chairman after he and fellow co-owners, Mark Walter and Hansjörg Wyss, sold their shares in the West London club to Clearlake Capital.
Prior to this, the trio held a 12.8% share each in the Premier League outfit, while Clearlake owned a 61.5% stake.
Given the latest development, Clearlake, run by Behdad Eghbali and Jose E. Feliciano, now has full control of the English club.
It also means Boehly will no longer be Chelsea chairman, a role he took on in 2022 when the group bought the club for £2.3 billion from Roman Abramovich.

Speaking after selling off his shares in the club, the American noted that he valued the partnership with other investors.
“I have valued my partnership with Clearlake and the wider ownership group, and the collective decisions and investment we have made to support the immediate and long-term success of the club,” he said.
Boehly also expressed confidence that Clearlake will position the Blues for more success.
He added: “I am confident that Chelsea is well positioned for continued success under Clearlake’s leadership.”
