The Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged the 2023 Labour Party (LP) vice-presidential candidate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, to move on after parting ways with his former principal, Peter Obi.
The party gave the advice to the former federal lawmaker in a post shared on Monday evening by its Director of New Media and Strategic Communications, Theo Abu Agada.
Earlier, while urging President Bola Tinubu to step aside in 2027, Baba-Ahmed said the president should not hand over power to any candidate contesting against him because they are unfit to occupy the office.
He further alleged that he had warned Obi against dumping the LP for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Speaking on the Mic On Podcast, Baba-Ahmed said: “I will simply advise uncle (Tinubu) to please prepare to hand over and move away, but not to the people contesting against him.
“Because none of them will improve Nigeria. All those people contesting against him were all in bed together at some point or another—including Peter Obi. At some point, he was in PDP.”

Reacting, Agada, who had earlier called the LP chieftain a “bitter ex”, counselled him to move on because the NDC’s 2027 presidential candidate, Obi, has already made his decision.
He went on to insist that his party would improve the lives of Nigerians if elected as the ruling party in 2027.
Taking to his verified handle, he wrote: “Since the presidential candidate of our great party, the NDC, His Excellency Peter Obi, made the idealistic and pragmatic decision to choose His Excellency Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed has been going from one platform to another, attacking and undermining him.
“The NDC will raise the living standards of Nigerians far better than the APC is doing.
“That is why we are pleading with Nigerians to vote massively for all our candidates in 2027.
“Datti needs to move on. Obi has made his decision, and Datti should respect it.”
