Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba is set to undergo a medical with a view to completing a £70m move to Premier League giants Manchester United.
Earlier, Fabrizio Romano, via his verified X handle, reported that a verbal agreement was in place between the two clubs for a deal worth £65 million, including a further £5m in add-ons.
He wrote: “Carlos Baleba to Manchester United, here we go! Verbal agreement in place between clubs.
”Improved bid sent today after £65m package rejected and player set to join the only club he wanted.”

Baleba was also granted permission by Brighton to undergo a medical this weekend, though an ankle injury will delay his Man Utd debut by a few weeks at least.
If everything goes as planned, the Cameroon international is expected to sign a five-year contract with the Red Devils.
Baleba, after the completion of the deal, will become the latest signing of the summer for Michael Carrick’s side, following the arrivals of Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans, and Karl Darlow.
Meanwhile, Brighton inserted a sell-on clause in the contract signed by Man United to bring the 22-year-old to Old Trafford before the summer transfer window closes.
Baleba joined the Seagulls from French club Lille in 2023 and has scored 3 goals in 92 appearances in all competitions for the club.
