Yesufu argued that attention should instead be focused on defeating the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

Human rights activist and co-convener of the BringBackOurGirls movement, Aisha Yesufu, has urged the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to caution his supporters.
The activist-turned-politician made the call on Tuesday in a post shared on her verified X (formerly Twitter) page.

Her demand from the former Vice-President followed alleged attacks by his followers on supporters of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, otherwise known as the ‘Obidients’, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Yesufu noted that Atiku’s supporters were going on what she described as a “rampage” on social media to attack Obi’s supporters.

According to the NDC chieftain, she had personally become one of the targets of the attacks by the netizens backing the ADC presidential flag-bearer.
She went on to say she expected to be treated better, as she and Atiku had previously worked together in the same political party.
Taking to her verified handle, Yesufu wrote: “An appeal to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to call his supporters to order. They have been on a rampage on social media attacking supporters of Mr Peter Obi. I have been one of their targets.”
She further said that she expected political decency and sportsmanship to prevail among supporters of the opposition figures.
