Davido is expected to actively support his uncle and incumbent governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, who is seeking re-election.

Afrobeats star, songwriter, and music producer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has alleged that there is a plan to stop him from participating in Saturday’s Osun governorship election.
The ‘Electricity’ hitmaker made this known on Saturday in a post he shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) page.
Earlier, the Nigeria Police Force had placed a statewide restriction on movement across Osun State from 12:00 midnight on Friday, August 14, 2026, until 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2026, due to the governorship election.

In a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, the police said: “Only persons and categories of movement specifically exempted by the appropriate authorities will be permitted during the period.”
However, in his latest post, Davido alleged that he had reliably gathered that soldiers had been instructed to prevent him from entering the state ahead of the election.
He, nevertheless, insisted that he would not allow such a scenario to happen, adding that as a citizen of Nigeria, he has freedom of movement whenever he deems fit.
Taking to his verified handle, Davido wrote: “I’ve been reliably informed that Soliders are trying to prevent me from entering Osun tomorrow, this won’t happen, every citizen of Nigeria has the right to movement at any point of time.”
