Family mourns late Madam Leticia, announces burial plans
The family of the late Mr. Phillip Ezemonyuo Ozurumba of Umuebo, Obodo, in Amaigbo Autonomous Community, Nwangele Local Government Area of Imo State, has announced the burial arrangements for late, Mrs. Leticia Nwaobaku Ozurumba, who died at the age of 80.
The family, in a statement signed by Deacon Emeka Chamberline Ozurumba, son of the deceased, described her death as a peaceful transition to glory, expressing gratitude to God Almighty for the life she lived and her impact on the family and community.
According to the family, Mrs. Ozurumba was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, grandmother and mother-in-law whose life was characterised by faith, love for her family and commitment to the service of God.
The family said that although her passing has brought grief, it is also an occasion to celebrate a life that was well lived.
“Mrs. Leticia Nwaobaku Ozurumba lived a good life and loved to serve God,” the family said, recalling her devotion to Christian values and the important role she played in the upbringing and development of her children and grandchildren.
The funeral programme will commence tomorrow, Tuesday, August 11, 2026, with a Christian wake-keep at her late husband’s compound in Umuebo, Obodo, Amaigbo.
On Wednesday, August 12, the body is scheduled to leave Amaigbo Joint Hospital Mortuary at 7:00 a.m. for the family compound in Umuebo, Obodo.
The body will lie in state from 9:00 a.m., after which a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Parish, Umuebo, Amaigbo.
Interment will take place immediately after the funeral Mass.
The family has also scheduled a Thanksgiving Mass for Sunday, August 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Parish, Amaigbo, to formally give thanks to God for the life and legacy of the deceased.
The burial announcement has also drawn attention to the humanitarian and community-oriented activities of the deceased’s son, Deacon Emeka Chamberline Ozurumba, who is based in France.
Ozurumba, according to accounts surrounding his activities, has over the years assisted Nigerians and other Africans living in France, particularly vulnerable people facing difficult social and economic circumstances.
He has reportedly provided guidance and support to some Nigerian women involved in prostitution, helping some of them explore alternatives to life on the streets and assisting them in seeking more dignified means of livelihood.
The mouth-piece and Managing Director, Igbo Ndi Oma Africa TV, Prince Obinna Orji, said Deacon Chamberline Ozurumba is God-sent and”always willing to assist people as he has a heart of gold”.
His supporters and admirers describe him as a “life changer” and “destiny helper,” citing his reported interventions in the lives of individuals and families experiencing financial and social difficulties.
Beyond direct financial assistance, he has also been associated with efforts aimed at encouraging people to become self-reliant, supporting individuals in rebuilding their lives and helping vulnerable members of the Nigerian community in the diaspora, particularly in Europe.
For the family, these acts of service and compassion are part of the legacy of a home in which Christian values, service to others and concern for the less privileged were regarded as important virtues.
The family said the life of the late Mrs. Ozurumba would continue to be remembered through the values she imparted to her children and the people she touched during her lifetime.
As relatives, friends, members of the Catholic community and well-wishers prepare to gather in Amaigbo for the funeral, the family has invited them to join in prayers and thanksgiving as they bid farewell to the octogenarian.
The family prayed that the deceased would find eternal rest in the bosom of God Almighty.
“Mama, may your soul rest in the bosom of God Almighty. Amen,” the family noted.
