Osun bank account: EFCC chairman’s position no longer tenable, should resign – Odinkalu

Former National Human Rights Commission Chairman Chidi Odinkalu has called for the resignation of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Chairman Ola Olukoyede.
Odinkalu said Olukoyede should step down after President Bola Tinubu overruled his order to freeze an Osun State bank account less than 10 days before the governorship election.
On Thursday, President Bola Tinubu directed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to lift the order freezing Osun State government accounts, according to a statement he signed. The President also said the action of the anti-graft agency made him feel personally embarrassed.
The EFCC had frozen the accounts about 10 days before a contentious governorship election in which the state government is in the opposition.
In a post on his X handle, Odinkalu said: “This man’s position has become entirely untenable in @officialEFCC. He has tried his best. He is a senior pastor & a senior lawyer. He still has professional shelf life. It’s time to call time on this corruption of anti-corruption. Mr. Chairman, in God’s name, please go!”
Other Nigerians also took a swipe at the EFCC chairman.
