Terry hails Chelsea’s new recruit, Welbeck; labels striker ‘great signing’

​Terry, who signed for Chelsea in 1998, donned the club’s shirt 492 times and scored 41 goals during his time there.

​English coach and Chelsea legend John Terry has applauded his former club’s decision to sign former Three Lions striker Danny Welbeck.

​The 45-year-old former defender praised the move recently in a post shared via his official Instagram page.

​Chelsea recently signed Welbeck from Brighton & Hove Albion on a two-year deal during this summer’s transfer window.

​Reacting to the decision, Terry described the addition of the former Manchester United and Arsenal striker to manager Xabi Alonso’s squad as a “great signing”.

​He also recalled the number of times Welbeck scored against the West London outfit in the past.

​Terry said, “Great signing this. And at least he won’t score against us anymore.”

Welbeck signed for Brighton in 2020 and has since netted 46 goals in 176 appearances in all competitions.
