In what appears to be an unfolding drama, Funmi Adelakun, the daughter of respected veteran Nigerian gospel singer Joseph Adelakun, has appealed to her father to “set her free”.
The 37-year-old called out the televangelist, widely known as Baba Ayewa, in a now-trending video shared by Megatestimony on social media.
According to Funmi, who has reportedly run away from her family home in Lagos, her 77-year-old father has been maltreating her and holding her hostage.

While pleading with the general public to help her implore the musician to set her free, she said: “I need my freedom. They should stop monitoring me.”
Lamenting her inability to make her own life choices, she alleged: “Good day, everyone. My name is Funmi Adelakun. What I need is your help; please help me beg my father to set me free. I need my freedom because what is happening now is very deep. I need my freedom—they should stop monitoring me and trying to access things about me.
“This has been going on for a long time. I need my freedom, and this is the height of it. I will explain better soon.”
