Nigeria goalkeeper Maduka Okoye tips France to win 2026 World Cup

​Okoye, who was in goal during Nigeria’s recent 2-1 friendly loss to Portugal, currently plays in Serie A for Udinese.

​Nigeria’s Super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye, has backed France to lift this year’s FIFA World Cup trophy.

​He tipped the European country for glory recently while speaking at the Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture Show in Paris, the capital of France.

​Les Bleus finished as the runners-up of the 2022 edition of the tournament, losing to reigning champions Argentina in the final.

​They will take on Morocco on Thursday night in a World Cup quarter-final fixture for a place in the semi-finals.

​Asked about his thoughts on the tournament, Okoye tipped France to go all the way this time around.

​The 26-year-old Udinese shot-stopper, however, admitted that he was rooting for Germany before they were eliminated from the competition.

​“I was rooting for Germany, but, unfortunately, we are out already,” Okoye said via Dazed on Instagram.

​“I think I will go with France,” he added.
