A second straight win for Colombia at the ongoing World Cup has put them top of Group K, clinching their place in the last 32 of the competition.
The South Americans, who opened their World Cup campaign with a 3-1 win over Uzbekistan, dominated possession but missed a host of chances to take an early lead.
Yoane Wissa almost snatched the lead for DR Congo in the 73rd minute when his shot from Simon Banza’s assist was blocked.
However, Colombia, who were roared on by the vast majority of the crowd in Guadalajara, broke the deadlock four minutes later through Daniel Muñoz.

Juan Fernando Quintero’s clever pass found its way to the Crystal Palace wing-back, whose left-footed shot took a deflection off a defender to wrong-foot DR Congo goalkeeper Lionel Mpasi and sneak in at the near post.
Luis Díaz thought he had doubled the advantage later on with a clinical finish into the top corner, only for the effort to be ruled out for offside.
Sébastien Desabre’s men pushed for a leveller late in the game, but Colombia held on for a deserved victory.
With the win, Colombia move to six points from two matches, guaranteeing their progress to the knockout stage ahead of their final group game against Portugal—who beat Uzbekistan 5-0 earlier on Tuesday.
DR Congo remain third and will need to beat Uzbekistan in their final group match to have any chance of progressing.
