Hervé Renard reveals he will leave role as Tunisia coach after World Cup

​Hervé Renard was brought in to replace his compatriot Sabri Lamouchi after Tunisia suffered a 5-1 thrashing at the hands of Sweden.

​Tunisia head coach, Hervé Renard, has clarified that he will leave his role at the end of the ongoing 2026 World Cup.

​The 57-year-old French tactician made this known on Monday while speaking to ESPN.

​According to Renard, his contract with the Carthage Eagles is only for the duration of the tournament, and there are currently no plans to extend the deal beyond June.

​The Frenchman was originally brought in to replace his compatriot Sabri Lamouchi after the North African nation suffered a 5-1 annihilation at the hands of Sweden.

​However, Renard also oversaw another heavy defeat to Japan on Saturday, which ultimately eliminated Tunisia from the tournament after just two matches.

​While confirming the development during the interview, he said: “I’ve come for a World Cup mission.”

​He added: “I have not signed beyond that.”

​Tunisia’s final game is against Group F leaders Netherlands on Thursday.
