The United States of America has disclosed that its military has launched new strikes on the southern part of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The development was confirmed on Monday in a statement issued by the spokesperson for the US Central Command (CENTCOM), Capt. Tim Hawkins.
This comes almost a week after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed that it had downed a US drone and fired at a fighter jet and another drone that had entered Iranian airspace.
According to the body, it has a legitimate and definite right to retaliate against any US ceasefire violations.

Speaking on the latest air strikes by the administration led by President Donald Trump, Hawkins noted that they targeted Iranian missile sites and boats attempting to deploy mines.
CENTCOM added that the strikes were in self-defence and designed to protect US troops from threats posed by Iranian forces.
“US forces conducted self-defence strikes in southern Iran today to protect our troops from threats posed by Iranian forces.
“US Central Command continues to defend our forces while using restraint during the ongoing ceasefire,” the statement read.
