Prior to the encounter, a lot of media outlets in the UK had reported that Guardiola was set to leave the Etihad this weekend, after the final English Premier League (EPL) fixture at home against Aston Villa.

Following the stalemate with Bournemouth, Man City can no longer win the title, as they are now on 78 points, while league leaders Arsenal are on 82 points with just one game left to play.
