Earlier, the Nigeria Police Force had announced that 17 police officers died in a terrorist attack on the Nigerian Army Special Forces School, located in Buni Yadi, in the Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.

According to the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid, the officers were undergoing training at the institution when terrorists attacked from multiple directions.

Speaking via a statement, he said: “The officers, who were undergoing specialised operational training at the institution, lost their lives when terrorists launched a coordinated attack on the facility from multiple directions at about 01.15hrs.

“Several gallant personnel of the Nigerian Army also made the ultimate sacrifice while courageously repelling the attack.”

Reacting to the development, Obi mourned the death of the 17 police officers alongside an unspecified number of soldiers.

He further stressed the need for urgent action in addressing insecurity across the country, urging authorities to tackle the situation with what he described as sincerity, professionalism, and political will.
