Ace Afrobeat singer, songwriter and record producer David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has stated that he would prefer his children to stay out of the Nigerian entertainment industry.
The ‘Electricity’ crooner made this known recently during a now-trending interview with The Breakfast Club.
According to Davido, he would rather his children work in his father’s (Deji Adeleke) companies than become entertainers.
He attributed this preference to the significant struggles he faced before achieving his breakthrough in the music industry.

The 33-year-old artist also noted that working within his father’s established businesses would provide a much easier life for his children.
When asked by the show’s host whether he wants his children to follow in his footsteps or work at their grandfather’s company.
Davido replied: “Omo, go and work with my dad. Every Christmas, my dad takes all the grandkids with him. And I can see that despite everything he has—including multiple private jets—his true happiness comes from seeing his grandchildren.”
However, he added that he would still support any of his children who choose to enter the entertainment industry, despite his own father’s initial refusal to support his music career.
“My father is single, so I saw his happiness and I thought, ‘This is what life is all about.’ My dad not wanting me in entertainment really killed my joy until he saw that I was adamant about doing it. I wouldn’t want to do that to my kids. My daughter is already singing and dancing,” Davido further noted.
