Manchester United caretaker manager Michael Carrick has attributed his team’s shock 2-1 home loss to Leeds United in Monday’s Premier League fixture at Old Trafford to a poor start.

The English tactician made this known after the encounter while speaking with Sky Sports.

Carrick watched as a brace from Noah Okafor ensured the visitors defeated the Red Devils in front of their home fans.

Despite a goal from Casemiro in the 69th minute, Man United were unable to salvage even a point from the match.

While reviewing the game in his post-match interview, Carrick pinpointed a sluggish start as a key factor in the disappointing defeat.

He added that though his team had “some moments” during the fixture, “it was not there for large parts of the half.”

He said: “We did not start the game particularly well. We conceded, which came after Leny Yoro got a forearm smash in the back of his head.

“We did not quite have the rhythm and we did not click. We had some moments but it was not there for large parts of the half.”
