Trump announces two-week ceasefire with Iran

The United States President, Donald Trump, has agreed to pause planned attacks on the Islamic Republic of Iran for two weeks following talks with Pakistan’s leadership.

He made the revelation in a post shared on his official social media page.

However, the ceasefire comes with the condition that Iran immediately reopens the Strait of Hormuz.

Speaking via his verified handle, Trump said: “I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks.

“This will be a double-sided CEASEFIRE!”

He added that American military goals have already been achieved and negotiations toward a long-term peace deal are close to completion.

A 10-point proposal from Iran is seen as a workable foundation, with most key issues already agreed upon.

The two-week pause is intended to finalise the agreement and move toward broader peace in the Middle East.
