Social media critic and influencer Martins Vincent Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan, has vowed to take legal action against human rights activist Omoyele Sowore if he uses his image without permission.

The internet personality issued the stern warning in a trending video shared on his official Instagram page.

On Wednesday, 1 April 2026, popular cryptocurrency entrepreneur Linus Williams Ifejirika (also known as BLord) was remanded in custody over allegations of impersonating VeryDarkMan, forgery, false endorsement, breach of privacy, and identity theft, among other charges.

Reacting to the development, Sowore argued that the “innovative strategy” and expertise of VeryDarkMan’s legal team, which resulted in BLord’s incarceration, was not a “victory” but rather the “oppression”.

Writing via a Facebook post, Sowore said: “I have read about the court-ordered detention of an individual known as BLord, and I must say clearly that no one should celebrate the incarceration of any person under the colour of law.”

He added: “We must all agree that sending BLord to prison is not a victory for legal brilliance or advocacy. Rather, it risks emboldening a system of oppression that weaponises the law against citizens.

“Justice must never be reduced to punishment for its own sake. I will work to ensure this case is discontinued and BLord is released without further delay.”

Addressing Sowore directly, VeryDarkMan accused him of lack of support and cautioned him against repeating the actions that recently landed BLord in legal trouble.

“Sowore, I know you never liked me. All these things you are doing online, I know. Sowore, I swear to God, if you are brave enough, try the same thing BLord did,” he warned.

“Go and use my picture on a billboard or use my image to promote things without getting approval from me. You, Omoyele Sowore—I will send you to prison if you dare do what he did.”
