Turkish giants Galatasaray have provided an update on the recovery of Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen, stating he is expected to return to action “as soon as possible”.
This was revealed by the club’s president, Dursun Özbek, after the Nigerian international underwent successful surgery in Istanbul on Monday.
Osimhen sustained the injury during Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League (UCL) clash against Liverpool at Anfield following a challenge with French defender Ibrahima Konaté in the first half.
He played on for the remainder of the half before being substituted for German winger Leroy Sané at the start of the second period.

Speaking to the press after visiting the hospital, Özbek gave an optimistic update on Osimhen’s condition; however, he stopped short of providing a specific date for the prolific striker’s return.
“He’s doing very well and had a successful operation,” Özbek said via Sabah. He added: “We hope he can come back to play as soon as possible.”
Osimhen is likely to be sidelined for at least a month, meaning he will miss several crucial fixtures as Galatasaray pursue league and cup titles.
If this timeline holds, the 27-year-old will miss league matches against Trabzonspor, Göztepe, and Kocaelispor, as well as cup ties against Gençlerbirliği.
He will, however, aim to return for Galatasaray’s major derby against Fenerbahçe at Rams Park on 26 April.
