Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has claimed he has ‘irrefutable’ evidence that Russia is providing intelligence support to Iran.
He levelled the allegation in his nightly video address on Monday, referencing Ukraine’s military intelligence agency (HUR).
According to Zelensky, there were indications that Moscow continues to assist Iranian authorities with intelligence-related backing in a bid to sustain and escalate tensions in the Middle East.
He did not, however, disclose further specifics, apart from noting that he had received briefings from Ukraine’s domestic security service, the SBU.
He went on to warn against allowing Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine to gain an advantage from shifting global geopolitical dynamics and fluctuations in oil prices, stressing the international implications of the conflict.
”This is clearly destructive activity and must be stopped, as it only leads to further destabilisation. All responsible states have an interest in ensuring security and preventing a bigger problem,” he said.
”Markets are already reacting negatively, and this is significantly complicating the fuel situation in many countries. By helping the Iranian regime survive and strike more accurately, Russia is effectively prolonging the war.”
Zelensky also expressed appreciation to Ukrainian forces for what he described as the precision of recent strikes on Russian oil infrastructure, which he said remains a key source of funding for Moscow’s war effort.
The Ukrainian leader further cautioned that Russia may be preparing a significant attack, citing intelligence reports.
