Onanuga also accused the opposition of waging a war of disinformation against the National Assembly and the APC-led government.

Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, has called on Nigeria’s opposition political parties to desist from their constant complaints regarding the Electoral Act and the APC-led Federal Government.
He gave the advice on Thursday night via a now-viral statement shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) page.
His comments followed a joint press conference held by opposition parties in Abuja, the nation’s capital, yesterday, themed: ‘Urgent Call to Save Nigeria’s Democracy’.
The media parley brought together several prominent leaders of Nigeria’s opposition parties to discuss the challenges they currently face and the way forward.
Reacting to remarks made by speakers at the conference, Onanuga described the allegations levelled against President Bola Tinubu and the APC-led Federal Government by opposition figures—led by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP)—as reckless and spurious.

He added that the opposition, especially the ADC, has turned irresponsible political statements into an art form to attract cheap headlines and mislead the public.
The presidential aide maintained that the opposition is waging a war of disinformation against the National Assembly and the APC-led Federal Government.
He further pointed out that the opposition has made false allegations in a bid to impose their will on Nigerians and the legislature, the arm of government constitutionally empowered to make laws for the country’s good governance.
Speaking via his verified handle, Onanuga said: “The opposition should stop this constant lamentation and unwarranted outrage against the Electoral Act and the APC-led government.
“In response to the realities of our country, the National Assembly enacted an amendment to the Electoral Act that allows for the real-time transmission of election results and the use of Form EC8A as a backup in the event of network failure.
“The opposition’s claim that Form EC8A creates a loophole for manipulation is illogical and a needless tantrum by those who should know better.”
