Ondo APC Congress: Aiyedatiwa orders probe of Idanre crisis

By Julius Alabi, Akure

Amid tensions trailing the ward congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has moved to consolidate internal democracy within the party, directing security agencies to investigate incidents of violence and restore order.

Rather than dwell on accusations and counter-accusations that have followed the exercise, the governor’s camp is projecting a message of institutional stability and party cohesion, insisting that the congress process must reflect fairness and transparency.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the governor was described as the “leader of the party and father to all,” who has consistently pursued inclusive leadership since assuming office.

According to the statement, Aiyedatiwa’s approach to party administration has been anchored on regular consultations and stakeholder engagement across the 18 local government areas of the state, a strategy his aides say has strengthened unity within the APC fold.

The governor is said to be the first in the state’s history to institutionalise quarterly stakeholders’ meetings involving party leaders at the grassroots, with about 60 representatives drawn from each local government area.
