Peju Ogunmola returns to acting months after son’s death, fans jubilate

Veteran actress, Peju Ogunmola, has announced that she has returned to acting, months after the death of her only child, Ayomikun.

Speaking on Friday via a video shared on her official Instagram page, the thespian described the past months as “heavy,” but credited public support for sustaining her.

Ayomikun died in Ibadan in September following a brief illness, according to the family spokesperson, Yemi Amodu.

The statement also refuted earlier speculations circulating online about the cause of his death.

Since his demise, Peju Ogunmola, who has been a fixture in Yoruba cinema for decades, stepped away from public appearances.

However, while announcing her return, the actress appreciated her fans for their love and prayers, adding that the “screens have missed me.”

“A new month, a new dawn. The past months have been heavy, but your love, prayers, and condolences have carried me through the storm. Today I rise, stronger, grateful, and ready to embrace my passion again.

“The screens have missed me… and I’m back, doing what I love most,” Ogunmola wrote.

After her post found its way to social media, it elicited immediate reactions from her colleagues and fans.

They took to the comment section to celebrate her return and prayed that God grant her strength to carry on.
