First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu charges Super Falcons to win 10th WAFCON trophy

Tinubu also hailed  the Super Falcons for getting to the WAFCON final and urged them to do the nation proud.

Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has urged the Super Falcons to ensure they defeat the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco in Saturday’s 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations’ final.

She gave the words of encouragement in a short video posted on the Super Falcons’ X account.

Nigeria will slug it out with the hosts in the final of this year’s event at the Olympic Stadium, Rabat, Morocco. 

A victory for the Justine Madugu-led side will earn them a record-extending 10th WAFCON title.

The Super Falcons won their first two group games against Tunisia and Botswana before battling to a draw against Algeria.

The West Africans then blew away the Copper Queens of Zambia 5-0 in the quarter-finals and edged past Banyana of South Africa with 2-1 victory in the last four.

Speaking ahead of the egerly anticipated final, Mrs Tinubu hailed the Nigeria girls for getting to the final stage of the tournament and urged them to do the nation proud.

She said, “My beautiful and lovely Super Falcons, I congratulate you and the officials for the qualification for the final of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

“I commend your team spirit, determination, and professionalism demonstrated in all your matches so far. You are shining examples to girls in Nigeria and Africa.

“As you step out for the final match, I pray God crowns your efforts with resounding victory. Make us proud, our worthy ambassadors and champions. Nigerians and I are waiting to receive you with a trophy in your hands.”
