Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed has faulted members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who are aligning with the new opposition coalition that has adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC), as its political platform, saying “It’s an aberration”

He made this known in Abuja on Wednesday during PDP Stakeholders’ Conference.

TheNiche had earlier reported that the main opposition party has been embroiled in internal crisis for over two years now.

The development  saw its 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, resign from the party last week.

The former Vice President stated that his resignation was due to irreconcilable differences that have emerged within the former ruling party.

Before him, former Senate President, David Mark had resigned from the PDP and was later made the interim chairman of the coalition-adopted party, ADC.

Apart from this, other notable members of the PDP are either actively flirting with ADC or have decamped to the party.

Reacting to the decision of card carrying   members of PDP to join the coalition, Governor Mohammed insisted that they can’t remain in the major opposition party and work for ADC.

He added that the party can no longer take what he described as ‘indiscipline,’ stressing that the members have to choose only one place to stay.

He said, “We cannot take indiscipline to a level where it becomes contagious. If you are in PDP, you are in PDP. You cannot be in the PDP and be in the coalition or another party.

“We cannot take this. Coalition is an aberration. Yes, I said it. You cannot belong to two places. You cannot be a hermaphrodite; you cannot be a man and a woman at the same time.”

After his speech, most speakers at the event echoed the sentiments of the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum,  saying that people could not be claiming to be members of the PDP whilst working for the interest of other political parties.
