Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 2023 governorship candidate in Lagos State, Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has asserted that his campaign gained huge momentum prior to the poll and that he would have won the gubernatorial race.
He made this known on Tuesday while featuring on Channels Television programme, ‘Politics Today’.
According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Lagos State incumbent Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who ran on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), won the election after polling a total of 762,134 votes.
The candidate of the LP, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, polled 312,329 votes to come second, while Jandor came third after scoring 62,449 votes.

Reacting to the outcome of the February 2023 Lagos State gubernatorial election, Jandor admitted he lost the election due to the emergence of the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
According to him, there was a sudden shift in voter dynamics after the former Anambra State governor joined the presidential race.
Speaking during the interview, Jandor said, “We did everything, but that wave came and swallowed the whole thing. Nobody saw that coming.”
When asked, “If not for Peter Obi’s influence in the presidential election, would you have won the governorship election?” Jandor responded, “Absolutely, I probably would have won the election at the governorship election.”
TheNiche had earlier reported that Jandor resigned from the PDP on Monday at a press conference held in Ikeja, Lagos.
He, however, did not reveal his next move, but assured that he would do so in the next few months.
He added that he was dumping the major opposition party along with his supporters across the 20 local governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas of the state.
