UNILORIN plans N50bn projects for 50th anniversary

The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has said that it is embarking on N50 billion worth projects to mark the 50th year of its existence.
The university which was established in 1975 will be 50 years old this year.
The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Wahab Egbewole who spoke with newsmen after unveiling the 50th year anniversary logo on the institution’s campus said the celebration would span through the whole of this year beginning from January to December.
Egbewole said the university would use the anniversary to celebrate greatness it has attained in the last 50 years and to sustain the greatness for the future.
He said after 50 years, the institution would move to the next level where it would be more committed to researched findings and infrastructural development.
He said that the school would build an innovation hub that would enable it to come up with innovations in research and scientific developments.
The Vice Chancellor disclosed that the plan of the next level would be reflected in the already existing strategic development plan for 2024-2028 his administration had made for the school.
He said the anniversary is planned to be with the involvement of the alumnae of the university as he disclosed that the former students would be celebrated alongside their Alma Mater.
He expressed hope that the former students will make a huge contribution towards the success of the anniversary.
