Rema, Asake feature in Obama’s 2024 favourite music list

Rema and Asake are not the only African artistes who made the cut, they were joined by South African star, Tyla

Two Nigerian Afrobeats singers, Divine Ikubor, better known as Rema and Ahmed Ololade aka Asake, made former United States President, Barack Obama’s 2024 favourite music list.

This was disclosed on Saturday when the ex-US president took to his X page and released list of his favourite songs for 2024.

According to him, Rema’s song ‘Yayo’ and ‘Active’ by Asake featuring Travis Scott, made the cut.

Apart from these two Africans, South African star, Tyla also made the list with the song ‘Jump’ featuring Gunna and Skillibeng.

Also on the list are songs titled ‘A Bar Song’ and ‘Kehlani’ released by Nigerian-American singers, Shaboozey and Jordan Adetunji.

Other usual suspects like Kendrick Lamar, Beyoncé and Karol G all made the cut with a song each.

Sharing his list via his verified social media handle, Obama tweeted, “Here are my favorite songs from this year! Check them out if you’re looking to shake up your playlist – and let me know if there’s a song or artist I should make sure to listen to.”
