IGP makes major changes, redeploys AIGs to new commands
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, announced a major shake-up in the Nigeria Police Force on Friday, ordering the posting of new Assistant Inspectors-General of Police to strategic positions.
The redeployment, according to Egbetokun, is aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and ensuring effective policing across the country.
“The posting of these seasoned officers to these critical roles is a strategic move to strengthen our policing operations and address emerging security challenges,” the IGP said in a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi on Friday.
The newly posted AIGs include AIG Suleiman M. Yusuf (AIG Zone 9, Umuahia), AIG Ahmed Ammani (AIG Zone 1, Kano), AIG Zachariah Fera, (AIG Zone 4, Makurdi), while AIG Augustina N. Ogbodo has been posted to Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex, Lagos.
Egbetokun urged the newly posted officers to prioritise the welfare of officers and men, and to ensure strict adherence to professional ethics and human rights standards.
“I charge you all to work diligently and collaboratively to maintain law and order, combat crime, and protect lives and property,” the IG said.
He also called on the public to support the Nigeria Police Force in its efforts to provide security and safety to all Nigerians.
