Silva hails Iwobi after scoring brace in Fulham’s win over Brighton

Silva admitted that Iwobi is a versatile player, adding that he can deploy midfielder to many positions

Fulham boss, Marco Silva has praised Nigerian international, Alex Iwobi after his brace helped the Whites beat high flying Brighton 3-1 on Thursday night in a game played at the Craven Cottage.

The Portuguese tactician hailed the Super Eagles midfielder while speaking with BBC after the highly intriguing encounter.

Iwobi opened the scoring as early as the 4th minute after profiting from Bart Verbruggen’s error to give Fulham an early lead.

He then sealed the win by scoring his second of the game three minutes from time.

The 28-year-old has now registered three goals and two assists in his last four appearances for the Cottagers.

Describing Iwobi’s performance after the match, Silva said, “Alex has been outstanding from the first day of pre-season. He is in a happy place and he is a fantastic footballer.

“Last season was his best season in the Premier League and one or two months ago I said he would be even better in this one.

“He is really versatile and I can use him in many different positions.

“He’s a top player with the way he can assist and score goals more than ever. What a game for him and he deserved all the credit.”

The win lifted Fulham to sixth position on the Premier League table.
