Sanwo-Olu’s aide, Abdulrahman Lekki, dies

Abdulrahman Lekki, Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Scholarship Board, has died after a brief illness.

A statement released by the Office of the Lagos State Head of Service said he died in the early hours of Wednesday.

“With the total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, the Head of Service announces the sudden demise of Mr. Abdulrahman Lekki, Executive Secretary, Lagos State Scholarship Board, which occurred in the early hours of today, 30th October, 2024, after a brief illness,” the statement read.

“May his soul rest in perfect peace. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.”

Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, also announced the development on his X handle.

He wrote, “Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. It is with a heavy heart that we mourn the loss of a dear friend and brother, Abdulrahman Lekki #FollowLekki, who served with dedication as the Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Scholarship Board.

“His unwavering commitment to empowering countless young minds through education and his deep compassion for the community will be profoundly missed.

“Abdulrahman was more than a colleague; he was a pillar of support, a guiding light, and a friend who brought warmth, humility, and kindness to everyone around him. His legacy will live on in the lives he touched and the many he inspired to reach their highest potential.

“In this time of grief, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones. May Allah grant him eternal peace and comfort to those who mourn his passing.”

The cause of his death was not immediately clear.
