A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bode George, has said it is improper for former Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose to support the re-election bid of the incumbent governor of the state, Biodun Oyebanji, who is a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He made this known on Monday while featuring on Channels Television’s programme, Politics Today.

According to him, there is something wrong somewhere if Fayose is truly supporting Oyebanji.

George was alluding to a recent interview granted by Fayose, where he praised Governor Oyebanji and said it will take a miracle for PDP to unseat him as governor of Ekiti State in 2026.

Speaking during the chat, the ex-governor said, “As of today, I am a member of the PDP; the governor there is a member of the APC, but the meeting point is that I am a leader in Ekiti.

“Like I told you, it’s either we lie and die, or we say the truth and die. Governor Oyebanji has done exceedingly well.”

Reacting to the statement, Bode George urged PDP to start probing Fayose from his ward to know if he will be sanctioned for anti-party activities.

“If it is true that Governor Fayose openly rejected the party and stated that he is going to work for the APC governor, he has defined his direction. From his ward, they will make arrangements for that investigation within the confines of Ekiti State before they will report.

“Ayo knows that you cannot say you are a member of this party and a former two-term governor of a party to now say you are working openly for the governor of the opposition party; something is wrong,” George said.

He went on to add that PDP can still resolve the crisis rocking the party, stressing that it was normal for a party to go through trying times, but what is happening in the PDP now is not the best approach.

He appealed to the warring party members to stop washing their dirty linens in public and give peace a chance in the party.
