Piqued by the putrid stories of mismanagement and infighting allegations between the Provost of Abia State College of Education, Technical, Arochukwu ( ASCETA), Prof Vincent Onwe and the Governing Council, the governor, Dr Alex Otti has summoned them to an emergency meeting.
It was gathered that since he was appointed the Provost, Prof Onwe has been accused of engaging in activities that are inimical to the interests of ASCETA growth.
For instance, there is allegation of tampering with Tetfund allocations resulting in the interventionist body blacklisting the college.
Petitions from contractors whose monies are being withheld after fully completing their jobs also led to the National Commission on Colleges of Education to summon Prof Onwe to its office in Abuja.
The recent infighting between the Governing Council and Prof Onwe who allegedly refused to take orders from the members, prompted Gov Alex Otti to intervene through the Commissioner for Higher education, Prof Uche Eme Uche.
In a terse message to the council members and the Provost, the Commissioner directed them to report to Government House, Umuahia, unfailingly by Wednesday, October 02, 2024
They were further directed to be seated at the Conference Room of the Chief of Staff to the governor by Noon on the said date.
