Legendary Brazil’s skipper, Marta says Super Falcons ‘hard nut to crack”

-

Despite Nigeria’s lost to Brazil (0-1) in the opening Group C match of the women’s football tournament of the Paris 2024 Olympics, the legendary Brazilian striker and skipper, Marta said the Nigerian female team was a hard nut to crack even as Sports Minister expressed optimism in Falcons next match.

After the match she remarked: “For us, it was a hard game. We knew Nigeria would be hard nut to crack.”

Marta, the oldest player in the Brazilian team at 38 said: “It was very difficult to score against them (Nigeria). They are fast players and have a very good goalkeeper.

“They are also good at passing the ball. We got our chance and we made use of it. Overall, we deserve the three points.”

Meanwhile, Sports Minister
John Enoh is optimistic that the Super Falcons who lost 1-0 to Brazil in their opening Group C match in Bordeaux will bounce back.

“It wasn’t a bad game,” he remarked.

His optimism was fueled by the fighting spirit exhibited by the Nigerian players. “We could have been a goal or two up before Brazil scored their goal”, the minister said.

His optimism is further strengthened by Coach Randy Waldrum who said that the team had improved tremedously over their form at the Women’s World Cup in Australia a year ago, as per Sports Village report.
