Carvajal admits Dortmund played better than Real Madrid in Champions League final

Carvajal who scored the opening goal of the Champions League final on Saturday night also argued that Real Madrid didn’t merit a draw

Real Madrid defender, Dani Carvajal, has admitted that their opponent in Saturday’s Champions League final, Borussia Dortmund deserved the trophy they won more, insisting his side didn’t even merit a draw against the Bundesliga side.

TheNiche had earlier reported that La Liga club, Real Madrid defeated Dortmund 2-0 to lift this season’s Champions League trophy at the Wembley Stadium on Saturday evening.

Dortmund started the brighter of the two sides but were unable to put away the chances they created in the first half.

The German side also began the second half like they ended the first but it was Real Madrid who won the encounter with goals in the 74th and 83rd  minutes.

With the win, the Spanish league champions claimed their fifteenth UEFA Champions League (UCL) title.

However, despite the enviable feat, Carvajal, who scored the opening goal for his team in the game, admitted that they didn’t merit a draw in the UCL final.

Speaking about Real Madrid’s performance in a post-match interview, the Spain international said via (MadridXtra on X): “We didn’t even deserve a draw, but this is football.”
