Malam Aminu Gwarzo, the Deputy Governor of Kano State, has recanted his earlier statement and tendered an unreserved apology to the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu after he threatened to sue him.
TheNiche had earlier reported that the NSA vowed to take the Deputy Governor to court for alleged defamation if he fails to apologise.
Gwarzo had in a brief video interview at the Emir’s palace in Gidan Rumfa on Saturday, accused the NSA of arranging the return of the deposed 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Bayero, to Kano.
“The former Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, is not happy with the peace and understanding being enjoyed in Kano and is using the office of the National Security Adviser to deploy security personnel to subvert the will of Kano people and to bring something the people don’t like.
“The National Security Adviser has provided two planes to bring the former Emir to Kano. What we failed to understand is the reason behind his action. The intent is to kill and destroy properties because they are not from Kano?” Gwarzo said.

Responding, Ribadu denied the allegation and demanded an apology from the deputy governor via a letter from his lawyers, Aliyu and Musa Chambers.
Following the threat, Gwarzo on Monday, while addressing newsmen at the Government House in Kano tendered an apology to the NSA.
Speaking at the press briefing, the deputy governor acknowledged that he was misled into making the allegation and expressed regrets for any embarrassment or inconvenience caused to the NSA and his office.
He said: “We were shocked to hear the NSA’s name mentioned in the plot to impose a deposed Emir in Kano, knowing his integrity and pedigree.
“We are human and can err at any time.”
Gwarzo added: “On behalf of myself and the Governor of Kano State, I assure the NSA of our continued support and cooperation in discharging his duties.”
The deputy governor, however, called on President Bola Tinubu to conduct a thorough investigation into the happenings in Kano to ensure peace and stability in the state.
