BREAKING: Ex-Kwara Senator Rafiu Ibrahim dies at 57

Rafiu Ibrahim who represented Kwara South Senatorial District in the eighth National Assembly died on Wednesday morning

A former federal lawmaker who represented Kwara South Senatorial District in the eighth National Assembly,  Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim has passed on.

His death was confirmed via a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday by his family. 

According to the statement the former senator died on Wednesday morning at the age of 57.

Senator Rafiu was also extolled for leaving behind a legacy of dedication, service, and profound impact.

The family, who said his burial arrangements will be communicated in due course, also solicited for prayers from Nigerians.

The statement read: “We kindly request your prayers and support during this difficult time. His burial arrangements will be communicated in due course.

“We pray Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Al-jannah Firdaus. Ameen.”

Rafiu Ibrahim started off his political career, under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as a member of Kwara State House of Assembly in 2009.

He was later elected in April 2011 to represent Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives of Nigeria of the 7th National Assembly.

He rose to become a Senator of the Federal Republic in 2015 when he was elected to represent Kwara South Senatorial District at the Nigerian Senate.

He, however, lost his re-election bid into the 9th National Assembly to Lola Ashiru of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the 2019 general elections.
