NYSC members not allowed to speak with press, DG stresses

Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier-General Y. D. Ahmed, has stressed that corps members are not allowed to speak with the press without permission.

The NYSC boss re-emphasised the corps’ rules during the swearing-in ceremony of 1,343 2024 Batch A Stream 1 corps members deployed to Katsina State.

The DG also warned against drug abuse, late-night travel and promotion of fake news.

He said, “You are not allowed to speak to members of the press without due permission from the NYSC authorities.

“You must also refrain from misusing social media and fake news that may be disastrous as it undermines national security and unity.

“You are encouraged to take advantage of the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) to acquire entrepreneurship skills. These skills will be beneficial both during and after your service year.”

Governor Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina State who was represented at the occasion by his Deputy, Lawal Jobe, while declaring the camp open, assured the corps members of the state government’s support and encouragement especially their welfare and security.

Earlier in her welcome address, Katsina State NYSC Coordinator, Aisha Muhammad, urged the corps members to participate actively in all camp activities, which she said would assist them physically and mentally for a successful service year.
