A 23-year-old member of staff of Sterling Bank, Afeez Junadu, who allegedly stole N6 million belonging to the bank was on Thursday arraigned at a Tinubu Magistrstes’ Court in Lagos.
Junadu, who resides at 69, Moshalasi Street, Iponri, Lagos, was alleged to have stolen the amount from the bank’s branch at Adeola Odeku Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The prosecutor, ASP Chidi Okoye, told the court that the theft was detected in the second week of June and the accused was arrested.
Okoye said that the accused was a trainee staff at the bank.
He said that the offence contravened section 285 (7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Ms Abimbola Awogboro, granted the accused bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties each in like sum.
Awogboro adjourned the case till July16.
