Nigerian rapper and actor, Ikechukwu Onunaku, has alleged that the mother of Dapo Oyebanjo, aka Dbanj, one of the owners of MoHits records, used to make decisions at the label.
He made this known recently as a guest on Daddy Freeze’s Instagram live show, while recounting some of his experiences as an artiste signed to MoHits.
According to the ‘Wind Am Well’ crooner,
whenever he gets booked for shows, the money would be paid to Dbanj, who exploited the situation by paying him only N50k out of a fee worth about N2 million.
Ikechukwu went on to add that his pay was later reviewed and increased to N150,000 after DBanj’s mother intervened.
Speaking during the chat, the rapper turned actor said: “When we used to go on the road, dem go pay Banga money, Banga go do like say e dey do me favour, him go give me N50k, back then I used to book like N1.5m, N1m, N2m. He increased it one time after we don fight, he increase am say ‘e talk to mummy, we go increase am to N150k’.”

He further claimed that MoHits was primarily run by Dbanj’s mother, as no decision was made without her giving the go-ahead.
“Mummy is Dbanj’s mum, she was part of the record label spiritually. Ask Don Jazzy, dem no dey make decisions without momsi giving the okay for a very long time.” Ikechukwu added
The singer also shut down innuendos that he and DBanj got into fisticuffs, insisting it never happened.
After Ikechukwu’s claims about his time at MoHits records made the rounds on social media, some netizens who took to the comment section chastised him for opening up old wound, while others corroborated his assertions.
A netizen identified as @ kinzlymonye: “Ikechukwu you lied on this one. I witnessed you punching on Dbanj in the face years ago at Rehab club in V/island.”
Another IG user, @aviationtrail said: “All these OGs are really eff up. Why are you exposing each other in your old age? Omo depression is real oh try get money till old age so you won’t be a nuisance “
However, @ Ugonnwa_ backed him saying: “That hypeman that married his sister was right then, saying their mum takes decisions even in his marriage.”
