South African rapper, Nasty C admits he looked up to Nigerian singers

Nasty C has collaborated with Nigerian artistes such as Burna Boy, Runtown and Davido

Popular South African hip-hop artiste, songwriter, actor and record producer Nsikayesizwe David Junior Ngcobo, better known as Nasty C, has said he was inspired by many Nigerian rappers.

The 26-year-old singer made this known during a podcast interview with Afrozons, where he also named Ghanaian prodigy, Sakordie, as one of the singers he looked up to while growing up.

The self-styled “Coolest Kid in Africa” went on to say he also drew inspiration from South African rap artists, such as the late AKA and Cassper Nyovest.

Speaking during the chat, Nasty C said, “My pioneers for hip-hop in Africa in no order are M.I, Sakordie, Olamide, Phyno, AKA, Cassper [Nyovest], Naeto C… There’s so many.”

The ‘Crazy Crazy’ crooner is regarded as one of the most commercially successful rappers on the continent.

After releasing three mixtapes, he released his debut album ‘Bad Hair’ in  2016 and followed it up with ‘Strings and Bling’ in 2018.

In March 2020, Nasty C signed a joint venture deal with Def Jam Records before releasing his third album in August 2020 titled ‘Zulu Man with Some Power’.

In 2023, Nasty C released a mixed tape titled the Ivyson Army, he then later in July 2023 released two singles titled No More and Crazy Crazy.

The South African has collaborated with several Nigerian artists, including Burna Boy, Runtown and Davido.
