President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday, followed up his decision to close Nigerian borders linking the Niger Republic with a meeting with governors of States sharing boundaries with the country.
The meeting which was held at the State House, Abuja, was part of consultations by the President after coup plotters took over power in the West African nation.
Among the governors in attendance were Ahmed Aliyu (Sokoto), Umar Namadi (Jigawa), Mai Malam Buni (Yobe), Idris Nasir (Kebbi) and Dr Dikko Radda (Katsina).

Prior to this development, the Nigerian president in his capacity as Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) had handed down a seven-day ultimatum to the military junta in Niger Republic to return power to the democratically elected president, Mohammed Bazoum.
He also announced a number of sanctions which included closing borders linking Niger, indefinite stoppage of flight activities and halting of power disruption to the country, during a meeting he held in Abuja last weekend.
Tinubu had also threatened military action and written the leadership of the National Assembly to approve the deployment of military personnel to the troubled Niger, but he was advised against the move.
