Bameyi believes the Flying Eagles can emulate Ghana by becoming the 2nd African country to win the FIFA U-20 World Cup trophy

Flying Eagles defender and captain, Daniel Bameyi has said he and his colleagues are capable of winning the FIFA U-20 World Cup trophy if they remain disciplined and dedicated.
Nigeria’s Under-20 side made it to the final of the age-grade competition in 1989 and 2005 but failed to lift the trophy on both occasions, following losses to Portugal and Argentina respectively.
Bameyi, however, believes the current Flying Eagles side can emulate Ghana by becoming the second African country to bring the FIFA U-20 World Cup trophy to Africa.
“Yeah. This is football, everything can happen, any team is beatable. As my coach would say, we just have to be disciplined, dedicated, do our job, concentrate. Let’s see how it goes, but I believe in this team. We can do it,” Bameyi told FIFA.com.

The Flying Eagles are through to the quarter-finals at the ongoing U-20 World Cup in Argentina.
Ladan Bosso’s boys after recording a stunning 2-0 victory against hosts Argentina in the Round of 16 on Wednesday night will now face South Korea on Sunday for a place in the semi-final.
Speaking on the game against the Asians, Bameyi said they are anticipating a difficult test.
“First of all, there is no small team in the World Cup. Every team in this competition is good. You must respect every team.
“Then any team in the knockout stage is obviously very good. I think the Koreans are a very good team. They have beaten other very good teams. I think they have very good players. We have a lot of respect for them.” the versatile Nigerian defender added
